Smoke Weed errrday - January 14, 2019

Ashton Caringer. What a guy.

My first snowman... His name is Karl

We walked in and I swear his WHOLE FAMILY TREE was sitting in this house

So this week has been so fun. Obviously from all my pics you can see that it snowed here... Down in Indy we got about 6 inches. I love the snow. Elder Lindstrom and i had fun playing in it. It was pretty legit. Fun fact. Elder Lindstrom is not the most coordinated person and he already had a tough time biking... And now add ice and snow and imagine that. Hahaha. I think in one night he crashed like 4 times.... I was cracking up haha

Also another funny story I wanna share. So you can imagine how much fun I am having. So church was cancelled because of the roads. And our most solid person calls us after we tell him church is cancelled, and he said "do you want to come over for lunch and we can have tacos" of course we say yes and go over. We get to his house and hes like "your ready? Let's go" we were like well where are we going? And hes like we are going to taco bell. So we stopped him and explained the sabbath day and all that and he was like okay if you guys follow it, then I will follow it. So it was a good teaching moment.

Now to the funny part of the story. We go to the store to sit down and talk. And we get done teaching him our lesson and we are waiting for the bus so we are just chatting. And Elder Lindstrom is practicing his vocab with him. And cabello is Spanish means hair. And caballo means horse. And so Elder Lindstrom asked where do you go to get your caballo cut? And then me and Gilberto noticed what he said. And we start dying lying and then Gilberto was like this dude is a murderer he is trying to kill horses and cut them. Right now it doesn't sound funny. But now we have a good inside joke and we called elder Lindstrom "caballito".

Now to explain my title. We were walking to the bus stop with Gilberto after this lesson. And he was asking us what music we liked. And Elder Lindstrom was like I like every thing... And I say... Nahh he likes rap a lot. And now for the funny part.... Imagine a Hispanic that know literally no English say "oh you like snoooop dooog?" it had me weak. Then in English again he says " you like the part that says SMOKE WEED ERRRYDAY." Haha
 I was Dead

Idk why but it kills me when Hispanics speak English. I love their accents. Our ward mission leader knows nothing. Like literally no English. But we are teaching him the slang. So now when ever I see him this is the conversation... "hola como esta hermano molina?" then he says back  "wazzzuppp Bro" haha I love it.

Another cool story from this week. So we are teaching this 16 year old Honduran his Name is Josue. And he has only been here for like 8 months. So this was the first time his whole family has seen snow probably but we get into the house and usually we just teach him. But we walked in and I swear his WHOLE FAMILY TREE was sitting in this house. There was like 25 people. So we sat down and they speak English to us at first and then we speak back in Spanish and they just go nuts. They are like why do these two white boys know my Language. But after the lesson we walk outside and I nailed Josue with a snow ball. And then the whole family joined and we had a huge snow ball fight. It was legit.

So yes I am loving the mission. It's flying by. And we are doing work right now in this area. I'm hoping this next transfer we have a couple baptisms, it's looking pretty good.

Cheesecake Factory - January 7, 2019

Juan Carlos took us to Cheesecake Factory
He is nominated for a Grammy!

This has been an awesome week! We grinding super hard down here in the Indy area. Elder Lindstrom and i have some good things going and the work is really picking up.

We are almost too busy to keep up with it. BLESSINGS.

QUOTES
*talking with the hermanas on the phone about their week* and right before I hang up I hit them with the "BYE IDIOT" 5 seconds later we get a text saying "bye idiot?" and we respond "idk what ur talking about" then they respond "oh nvm we thought we heard something different. Have a good night" hahaha classic

I know Elder Lindstrom had some bomb quotes this week but I didn't write them down so I forgot them.

Currently he is jamming to "how great thou art" in the shower

Okay back to the important things. This week JUAN CARLOS (a member up in elkhart (my last area)) CAME AND VISITED ME. I told him he needs to be better spiritually so he needs to go to the temple. So he did. Then he came and took us to THE CHEESECAKE FACTORY. Hahaha I love good ol Juan. It was good to catch up and gossip about the missionaries and just share some stories... As I'm ordering my chicken Alfredo the lady asks "do you want the lunch or the dinner plate?" Juan quickly interrupts and says "it's bulking season baby, give him the dinner" then after we eat the lady says "it's bulking season, so are you guys getting cheesecake?" Juan looks at us and then looks back at the lady and says "of course, this place is literally Called the cheesecake factory. We aren't going to come here and not get cheesecake"

Also this week, we had interviews with pres dawg. This interview was probably the shortest interview I have ever had. I love that dude. He told me some juicy things in the interview. (mostly we just talked about Elder Bearnson in my interview)

Also this week. EVERY LESSON that we had with someone. We were able TO BRING A MEMBER. It was pretty sweet. The members in this branch are so willing to go out with us and give us rides and give our people rides. And man they can testify.

But I'll share a cool story real quick. So we have someone named Gilberto. And Gilberto moved here from Mexico. And his family in Mexico are recent converts and before he moved here he had taken the missionary lessons and he has even gone to church... But he worked a ton in Mexico for his family so he couldn't be baptized. But he has been here for 8 months and these last 2 weeks he has been praying to find the church here... He didn't know where the Spanish branch was.... But the English missionaries knocked on his door last week and he knew enough English to say "I know about Joseph Smith" and then the missionaries sent us and turns out he knows a lot more than just Joseph Smith. So basically we don't teach him, we just go over the lessons and he teaches us... And this week a member took him to church and he loves it here. He has a date to be baptized the 26 of January... We are sooo excited.

Also I love being in this area because I know so many people in Indianapolis. And people love serving the missionaries. Haha so our p-days are super fun because people are always letting us do stuff for free.. For example, we have someone taking us to the zoo in the future for free... And then I know someone that used to be the weather lady here so she is giving us a tour of fox news so that'll be hype.
I honestly really love the new program with the church. Elder Lindstrom and I sat down and studied it together and when we went to church we were so prepared. I loved it. It is definitely a blessing, if we use it correctly. Church simply was not just shortened. We need to take the time in our homes to study together as a family. I challenge all you guys to study it in the home. There is power to it. We have been asked by a prophet of the lord to do this... So it's probably important!

Love,
Your favorite missionary

(oh my grandma tricked me on my Christmas presents, She said "to my favorite missionary" in my head I was like "YES I'M THE FAVORITE"  then I began to realize I'm the only missionary out from the family right now. Pranked)

Merry Christmas - December 31, 2018

Matching Christmas ties for Christmas

This week has been great!! And also the worst! Lol the best of both worlds...

We had a fantastic Christmas eve and Christmas!! We did alot of fun things. I won't say everything we did because that would bore you but we played some ping pong, watched the Incredibles 2, ATE A TON OF HISPANIC FOOD, spent quality time with the other members in the district #indysquad., and of course talking with my FAMILY! (give me 12 weeks and I'll know) lol

Then the next 2 days of the week I spent dying in bed because I got sick. I lost a total of 7 pounds in 2 days/: and now 5 out of the 7 missionaries got the same sickness. Basically everyone in Indiana is getting sick right now. But that doesn't stop us because #thegrinddontstop

So we had a cool miracle.... This guy named Gilberto moved here from Mexico about 7 months ago. And his mom and sister are recent concerts to the church. And he has taken the missionary discussion and has come to church while he lived in Mexico. But he moved here so he didn't get baptized... And then like 2 weeks ago he said he was praying to have God guide him to the church so he could go here, because he didn't know how to find it. Then guess what??..................... Chicken butt. Lol jk WE KNOCKED ON HIS DOOR. so now he wants to come to church and he wants to be baptized so we were able to get a date for him to be baptized... #TheLordProvides馃巺馃徔馃

I know this gospel is real. And Jesus christ does live and he is our savior. I know God is a God of miracles and we can still see miracles like the people of old saw. One of the biggest miracles I am most grateful for is the atonement. I am grateful that we can continually strive to become better and be the person that God wants us to be. On this mission I have truly been able to see the potential that God has for me and who I can become while I am out here in Indiana. And I know I cannot become that person unless I humble myself daily and pray with all my heart for forgiveness and strive to be better. And by doing this every night in my prayers I have been able to see a fraction of what is in store for me. I am truly grateful for all of my blessings and for my savior and his example that i can look towards. I know this life is hard sometimes and yeah we have difficult moments, and sometimes we get busy with worldly things. But all God wants is just for us to reach out to him daily. He loves us and misses us. So idk how many of you are actually doing your daily prayers. BUT DO THEM. Pray to be able to see yourself the way God sees you and your potential. It works. I have done it. And my perspective has changed and I have been able to see a little bit of the eternal perspective.

But I love you all. Thanks for all the Christmas presents. Shout out to elder ponds mom for sending me a package. Shes the real homie.

Thoughts on the Family - January 2019

Why are we here? Well, one of the reasons is because we need to learn... but we have families to make this life easier for us. I'm sad because I didn't take the opportunity when I was young to be friends with my family, but my mission has helped me a lot to learn the importance of families. And I know that God gives us families for a reason. And I'm excited to meet my family better when I return from my mission. But I want my family to know that I love them so much. I know you can talk and serve with your family and make a very strong friendship. Watch this video and act in your thoughts.

This is my family! They never heard me say it but I'm so excited for my family. I love talking about my family. They have done a lot to me in my life with my doubts, questions and my tests. I know we have families in this life for a very special reason, so that we can learn together and teach each other. I hope you guys can think about your families and everything you do and have done for you. I'm getting ready to have my beautiful family, and always I want them to know that I love them so much.
