Dear Brother and
Sister Turley, July
31, 2017
Your Son, Elder Gavin Karl Turley, has arrived safely in
Indiana. It was a pleasure to meet and welcome him to the
mission. He has a solid testimony of the gospel and is excited to be
doing the Lord’s work. Sister Carlson and I look forward to serving with
your son during this special time in his life.
I know Elder Turley will appreciate letters from home,
but I discourage phone calls or visits except for emergency situations, and
with prior coordination with me. I recommend that you send all mail
and packages to the office. We will forward items to your son’s
apartment address.
Sister Carlson and I will love, care for, and watch
over Elder Turley as if he were our own son. Thank you
for the love and support you have given, and will give him on his mission.
Sincerely,
Daryl H. Carlson

Elder Turley found Uncle Steve at the Salt Lake Airport. Steve got him where he needed to go. |

So I made it to Indiana.
Yesterday we just flew in and stayed at the mission home. I got all my packages
and my bike. My companion is awesome. He is from Gilbert so he is friends with
cash and he knows the same people I know. He seems super coool so I am super
excited to meet him. Indiana is sooo pretty. It is super green and super flat. I
am in Carmel Indiana. it’s the richest area in the mission so the houses are
huuuge. Everyone said I am so lucky to be in this area. My companions name is
Elder Allred. But I am going to love him. I don’t have my camera on me. I’ll
send pictures next week because I haven’t taken any yet. I love you. bye

As
you can see, your missionary arrived safely in Indiana this afternoon! We are so happy to have
each and everyone of them here with us. After
we met the new missionaries at the airport we brought them to the mission home
for dinner, introductions and rest.
Tomorrow
morning, after a good breakfast, the newly arrived missionaries will attend an
orientation meeting at the chapel located in Fishers (which is about 10 minutes
from the mission home and is also the location of the mission office). In the early afternoon
your missionary will meet their companion and then travel to their first
assigned area.
We
appreciate all you do to encourage your missionary in their adjustment to
missionary life. We
are so impressed by the caliber of these missionaries. We
truly love them, as we know you do, too.
Our
mission has a Facebook page on which we post pictures of the missionaries from
time to time. It is
called “Indiana Indianapolis Mission with Full Purpose of Heart”.
President and Sister Carlson
