Cool Beans - July 30, 2018

Be Like Nephi....
But What Does That Really Mean?

I miss my motorcycle back home... Haha Me and my comps seeing so many motorcycles and I am Excited to get home  and maybe buy one... But hopefully my future spouse will let me have a bike. Hahha

Sorry that was a little off topic but it seemed like a good way to start the email. But this week FLEW by. I don't really remember what happened. But I know a lot did... I'm just going to do it the lame way and go through all my days... 

Monday: basketball by ourselves at the church. It's nice being in a trio because we have an extra person to play with.

Tuesday: I had the opportunity to Skype into a lesson with a person I use to teach in Columbus and I saw the man himself (Elder Bearnson), miss that dude, but we talked with Tanner and Jamie and they are doing awesome... They were truly miracles back in Columbus...

Wednesday: we went up to Niles Michigan and we talked with one of Elder Winterhollers investigators... And she is solid!! She asked us "why are Laman and Lemuel so stupid? They have seen angels and they will believe and then not believe and then believe and then not believe" then she continues to say "they just need to follow Nephis example and serve the lord" haha she is solid.

Thursday: we went to the district meeting in South bend and we went to Bdubs afterwards (shout out to Mama Mendonza) then we went on surprise exchanges with the Mishawaka Elders... Pretty fun day

Friday: District meeting in Elkhart. I spilled my water all over myself so that was embarrassing.... And then the rest of the day was just ehhh

Saturday: we had lunch with a part member family and the 16 year old is going to be baptized after he is off probation... But I love that family. They are hilarious...

Sunday: I can't really remember what we did yesterday... We taught a couple people. Had church. But overall a good day.

I have learned a lot of stuff this week. But I have been thinking about Nephi and his family a lot this week since our investigator brought it up... And we always say that we need to be like Nephi, but what does that really mean? In my head I automatically think of the opposite of Laman and Lemuel... But we don't really think about them too often and learning from their mistakes... And I feel like in life we are more like Laman and Lemuel. We give up, we murmur, we complain, we talk bad about people, we take our blessings and miracles in our life for granted... I have really been thinking about trying to not be like Laman and Lemuel and be more life Nephi. Courageous, bold, loving, has a love for God, and obeys even when it doesn't seem like the right thing to do... There is always more we can do and there is always more that we can give up to serve the lord... So what is something you are holding on to that is stopping you from following the commandments more diligently? Ask God to help you get rid of it... He will bless you!
