okay this week has been hilarious... we have had tooonnsss of good laughs. so ill tell a couple of stories...
First Story-
So last Monday for dinner we go over to this person house that we are teaching.... and one of the people living there was drinking and she was HAMMERED. and so we are sitting on the couch just chit chatting. and then the drunk lady saw that I had red cheeks and so she started calling me her 'little tomato'.... so then that is what she referred to me as, the rest of the night. BUT she starts talking to me and she wants me to come sit by her at the dinner table and we are about to eat dinner so I take my seat next to her and then she starts grabbing my cheeks. and saying"come kiss me my little tomato" "come kiss me baby" just over and over again... and I'm dying laughing. and she just kept saying SUPER inappropriate things to me about my body. I mean they were all compliments but yeah super inappropriate. I'll give you an example of what she said "my door is right over there and through my door we can go infinitely and beyond" hahaha I was weak. then she was like "I'm Hispanic and you are white... we can make little Mexican babies." haha so yeah that was probably one of my favorite dinners that I have been too. lol. I will always remember that.
Next story-
Today we went to Kroger (a shopping center) and I have my carrots in my hand and I am looking at which humus I want to buy... and this homeless dude walks up to us and his starting line is.. "I see the LDS church just bought land in Phoenix and they are starting to put money into businesses.. why are they doing that?" then he didn't give us time to respond (typical people from Indiana). and he sees that my cheeks are red. and he said "you have something in your artery's clogging your blood that is why your cheeks are red.. and that happens because you are eating healthy. You need to put down those carrots. The government puts chemicals in all of the healthy foods that make us sick. I had a friend that had red cheeks because she ate healthy and then she died of a heart attack at the age of 30." and I said " so are you saying I am going to die from an heart attack at the age of 30 because my cheeks are red because I am eating carrots" and he said.... "exactly..." and then he walked off. and then the workers said to me " sir did that man attack you" and I said "nahhh he just said I am going to die at the age of 30 hahahha"
Next story-
We knock on this guys door and I know his name is Jose but I forgot what he looked like because every Hispanic looks the same. and some guy opens and I say "hello are you Jose" and he says no... then I proceed to ask... is Jose here and he says no... then I ask okay what is your name... and guess what he said.... Jose... I was sooo confused so I legit just walked away.
Next story(spiritual) - So we are teaching someone named Socorro. She is awesome we call her our grandma. I love her so much and her baptism is in 2 weeks so we are teaching her about the word of wisdom and we go through all the things that she cant eat and drink and I save coffee for last because I know this one is gunna hurt.... and I say coffee and she freaked and so I explain to her why its important and how we can be blessed... and then I ask the question... Socorro from now on will you not drink coffee. and she says.... if it is a commandment of God then I will follow it... ITS WAS SOOO AWESOME.
This week I have really been trying to focus on my attitude towards the work. It is amazing to see the difference when you are excited and when you are dragging your feet. I know sometimes when we think about the church we aren't always excited... and especially when Sunday rolls around and we want to sleep in or when we have to prepare a lesson for a certain class... I know at some point we have all felt like we didn't want to do what we are doing.... BUT. I realized no matter how hard I work or how smart I think I am or how much I think I know the language, because none of that matters if I don't have a good attitude about the work. When we have a good attitude it shows God that we are loving what we do and he will want to be apart of it that much more. so this week have a good attitude about your work or your calling or even just going to church and it will make that much more of a difference!
